Indonesia’s government has finalized the 2027 public holiday schedule, establishing 18 national holidays and eight collective leave days that will govern both public and private workplaces, including hospitals, banks, and utility providers. The rules, issued through a joint decree by the Ministers of Religious Affairs, Manpower, and Administrative Reform, apply uniformly across all sectors.
The decree clarifies obligations for employers and workers, though exact dates for Islamic holidays-such as Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha-will be set later by the Religious Affairs Minister. Collective leave days, which reduce annual leave entitlements, will be handled differently for state employees versus private-sector staff, with private companies designing their own policies.
National Holidays in 2027
The approved list of 2027 national holidays covers key religious and secular observances:

The schedule blends religious celebrations, such as Eid al-Fitr and Vesak Day, with national events like Independence Day and Workers’ Day, accommodating Indonesia’s varied cultural and faith traditions. Most holidays follow fixed dates, while Islamic observances shift annually based on lunar cycles.
Collective Leave Days and Workplace Rules
The government has also designated eight collective leave days in 2027, which will reduce employees’ annual leave balances. These dates include:
- February 5 (Friday): Chinese New Year (2578 Kongzili)
- March 9 (Tuesday): Eid al-Fitr (1448 Hijri)
- March 12 (Friday): Eid al-Fitr (1448 Hijri)
- March 15 (Monday): Eid al-Fitr (1448 Hijri)
- March 25 (Thursday): Good Friday
- May 18 (Tuesday): Eid al-Adha (1448 Hijri)

- December 24 (Friday): Christmas Day
State employees must follow government-mandated collective leave rules, while private employers can establish their own schedules. Essential services-including healthcare, transportation, and utilities-will continue operating, with staffing adjustments as necessary. The Joint Decree states that this takes effect from the date of its issuance.
