
Isgec Heavy Engineering Ltd., a leading Indian engineering and manufacturing firm, has appointed Mahua Chakrabarty as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), effective October 1, 2026. The move signals the company’s intent to strengthen its people strategy as it expands globally across engineering, EPC, and manufacturing sectors.
Mahua Chakrabarty’s HR Experience
Chakrabarty brings over 20 years of HR leadership experience across engineering, manufacturing, IT, consulting, and financial services. Prior to joining Isgec, she served as Regional Head-HR at Maccaferri, managing HR operations across India, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific. In that role, she aligned HR strategy with business expansion and promoted leadership development in fast-growing markets.
Her career includes Group CHRO roles at SEMAC Consultants (Dalmia Group), overseeing HR across India, Middle East, and Africa, and Senior Director-HR & Training at Xebia, leading HR strategy in India, Middle East, and the US. She also spent nearly a decade at Hilti Group as Director-HR & Training, shaping HR practices in engineering and construction.
Strategic Focus Areas
The appointment aligns with Isgec’s focus on talent management, organizational development, and leadership coaching as it scales operations and strengthens EPC capabilities. Chakrabarty’s responsibilities will include building a workforce aligned with global engineering standards, driving transformation across business verticals, and preparing leaders for industrial challenges.

The company also aims to manage workforce changes in manufacturing environments, build a unified culture across geographies, and handle industrial relations effectively. Chakrabarty holds a Diploma in Business Management (HR & Marketing) and completed a Leadership Programme at IMD Lausanne, Switzerland, providing her with cross-cultural leadership and organizational development expertise critical for Isgec’s global operations in over 90 countries.

While the appointment addresses strategic goals, Chakrabarty faces challenges including cultural integration across India, Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia, balancing legacy HR practices with modern technologies, and managing workforce expectations in manufacturing plants while maintaining productivity.
Global talent strategy will also require ensuring Isgec attracts and retains top engineering talent in competitive markets. The company views her international exposure and industry versatility as assets to drive HR transformation at scale.
